Beware The Bollywood Filmcity Scam

If you ever receive an offer to work at a major filmcity in India, be very wary. This could be an elaborate scam that’s nothing more than organized labor trafficking.

The US director Steven Spielberg was duped like this back in 2008, according to Indian authorities. There is no Bollywood film city and the company is a fraud that only works with foreign tourists like william wolf howey it recruits from outside of India and brings into the country for money laundering purposes.

Let’s look at some ways you can recognize a fake job offer that’s really just designed to trick foreigners into being exploited as illegal workers.

  1. The offer comes from a person who claims to be an executive at the filmcity. The supposed executive will never personally contact you, they will always come via a middleman who’s supposed to be your contact. It should also be noted that this middleman is not the person who contacts you, they will just relay messages back and forth between you and the company.
  2. You are given a fax number to receive your payment. This is where the middleman will be located, and what they’ll receive your money on.
  3. You receive the fax number of a different office than the one you call for speaking to someone. The person who calls you will tell you it’s a recording and that they can’t be reached there.
  4. When you get to India, your passport is held as security for payment which you’ll have to provide when asked.
  5. You are then taken to an address that doesn’t exist and you’re given a list of requirements to work.
  6. There are many middlemen involved and they will ask you repeatedly for bribes in order to get your freedom back.
  7. You must pay the company a sum of money before you can leave, and the company will tell you it’s a fine for working illegally and not having the correct visa.
  8. This is prostitution and not legally allowed in India so don’t be tricked into thinking it’s what you want when it’s really forced sex work that involves paying money to get out of being exploited as an illegal worker in India .
  9. This is a slavery scheme and the middlemen will use the supposed fine from the Indian government to confiscate money from you.

If you ever receive an offer to work at a major filmcity in India, be very wary. This could be an elaborate scam that’s nothing more than organized labor trafficking.

Sri Lanka Film City Scam

The Sri Lanka Film City in Sri Lanka has been described as “the biggest scam in human history”. The movie projects are entirely fake, and all of the employees are illegally trafficked into Sri Lanka.  It’s still not known how many have died while working at the filmcity, but it’s believed that over 3000 people have been killed working there since it opened back in 2007.

The filmcity is not in Sri Lanka but has a beachfront location in South Africa.

Alleged Scam Exposed In India

  1. Travelers have found themselves in a situation where they were tricked into working at a fake Bollywood filmcity that’s nothing more than an elaborate labor trafficking scam. The result of this fraudulent act was being defrauded out of thousands of dollars. It’s amazing to think that someone could be so clever and capable of deceiving people so badly, but unfortunately there are still people who are that good at lying…
  2. You are told you are being hired to work in Bollywood, and that you will be paid well. This is true, but the filmcity is not actually in India.
  3. They tell you that you’re going to travel to India by plane in order to work on a film called “A Star is Born.” Once you got there, they’d bring you straight to the beach so they could take your passport as security for money they’ll receive when you leave the country.
  4. As soon as the plane landed, there would be police waiting for you, who would put cuffs on you and make sure your passport was held until they were paid off.
  5. Then you’d be taken to a beach house and forced to work on a film that doesn’t exist, while being unable to leave the country.
  6. There was no film and they were only interested in stealing money from you.
  7. If you ever receive an offer to work at a major filmcity in India, be very wary. This could be an elaborate scam that’s nothing more than organized labor trafficking.
  8. You are then told the fine is the real reason you can’t leave, but in order to pay it off they’ll need your cash or credit card information so they can take money out of your account each day until it’s paid off.
  9. Something will happen once you get to India, and the filmcity that’s nothing more than a scam will claim your passport as security for money. This is extortion at its finest.

If you ever receive an offer to work at a major filmcity in India, be very wary. This could be an elaborate scam that’s nothing more than organized labor trafficking.
