The highest grossing Indian films of all time are Bajrangi Bhaijaan, PK, and Dangal.

Bollywood is the largest film industry in the world by number of films produced with 1,931 feature films as of 2017.

 It is one of the biggest markets in the world for film (behind only America and China). Films made in Hindi-Urdu dominate Indian cinema. 

The three highest grossing Indian movies ever made were all Hindi-Urdu language movies: Bajrangi Bhaijaan ($255 million), PK ($190 million), and Dangal ($190 million).

Here are some of the Highest Grossing Indian Films of all time :

1. Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) 

Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a 2015 Indian drama film directed by Kabir Khan. Written by K. V. Vijayendra Prasad, the film is produced by Salman Khan and Rockline Venkatesh. 

It stars Salman Khan, Harshaali Malhotra and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles while Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui appear in an Item number. 

The film narrates the story of a man who tries to reunite a 6-year-old Pakistani girl with her family back in Pakistan after she gets lost on her way to India from Kashmir.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan is the highest-grossing Indian movie ever. It was released on 17 July 2015, breaking the record for the biggest opening day collection for an Indian film, with ₹49.56 crore (US$7.4 million). 

The film set a new record for the highest single weekend gross beating PK which was ₹30 crore (US$4.8 million).

 The film also has the record of highest single week domestic collections in India beating PKs ₹ 28 crore (US$4.2 million) and Bahubali’s ₹ 19 crore (US$3 million).

2. PK (2014) 

PK is a 2014 Indian satirical science fiction comedy film co-written, edited, and directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra. 

The film stars Aamir Khan in the title role with Anushka Sharma as the female lead. Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjay Dutt and Saurabh Shukla feature in supporting roles. 

The film follows an alien who comes to Earth on a research mission. He befriends a television reporter and questions religious beliefs, social prejudices, and superstitions.

PK is the second highest grossing Indian film of all time after Baahubali 2

It was released on 28 October 2014, and on the same day, it became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time. Having collected ₹97.5 crore (US$14 million), it also became the highest grossing Indian film released in overseas markets till date.

3. Dangal (2016) 

Dangal is a 2016 Indian drama film directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao and Sajid Nadiadwala under their respective production houses Aamir Khan Productions and Yellow Flowers Productions. 

The film stars Aamir Khan in the title role with China Saying as his daughter . 

The film explores the lives and hardships of Mahavir Singh Phogat, his wife Geeta Phogat and his two daughters Babita Kumari and Dangal

Dangal was released on 25 December 2016. It was declared a hit in the opening weekend peaking at ₹20.2 crore (US$3.0 million) setting a new record for highest opening day collections in the history of Bollywood surpassing the previous record set by PK with ₹18 crore (US$2.6 million) on Saturday, 3 January 2017. 

The film had a first week of ₹47.3 crore (US$7.1 million) which was the highest ever non-holiday Monday collections in the history of Bollywood.The film has grossed ₹377.9 crore (US$57 million) at the end of its theatrical run.

4. Bahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) 

Bahubali 2: The Conclusion is an Indian Kannada language comic action film produced, written and directed by S. S. Rajamouli, who also served as the film’s editor, showman and producer under his production banner Great India Films Pvt Ltd in association with Arka Media Works and Siddharth Narayan’s T-Series . 

It is the continuation of Bahubali: The Beginning and is the second installment of the two-part series.

 Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia reprise their roles from the previous film, while Ramya Krishnan, Nassar and Sathyaraj appear in supporting roles.

Bahubali 2: The Conclusion grossed around ₹1 crore (US$0.2 million) worldwide during its opening weekend to a record breaking collection of ₹1,650 crore (US$245 million) worldwide in 10 days.

 Bahubali 2: The Conclusion holds the record for the highest grossing film globally. The film was released in over 2000 screens worldwide.

 It had an average opening in India with ₹3 crore (US$460,000) in its first weekend, and ended up collecting around ₹1.8 crore (US$270,000) daily during its first week.

5. Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) 

Baahubali: The Beginning is an Indian Telugu language historical fiction film directed by S. S. Rajamouli and produced by Shobu Yarlagadda under the production banner of his production house, Arka Media Works.

 Inspired by the Mahabharata, Baahubali focuses on a couple that must fight for their destiny in a war between two kingdoms.

 Prabhas plays the titular character Kattappa, while Rana Daggubati portrays antagonist Bittu.
